NBA Pick: Charlotte Bobcats +13
As bad as the Bobcats have played in the early portion of the season, there is no reason for the Lakers to be favored by 13-points in this game. This isn’t the same Lakers team from years past. In 21 games they have just three wins by more than 13-points, and two of those came in the first four games of the season. The Bobcats are expected to get two key players back in their rotation tonight, as forward D.J. White and guard Gerald Henderson are both expected to return from injury. Henderson is a huge addition, as he leads the team in scoring at 15 ppg. The Bobcats have succeeded in this role against a couple of pretty good teams already this season. In consecutive games Charlotte was 12.5-point underdogs on the road at Orlando and Chicago. They lost those two games by a combined 13-points, easily covering the spread in each game. Los Angeles is just 14-37 ATS in their last 51 games as a home favorite of 11.0 or greater, while the Bobcats are an impressive 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog of 11.0 or greater. BET CHARLOTTE! -Steve Janus

NCAAB Pick: Kansas State +1.5
On Tuesday the NCAAB Big 12 play is on Kansas St. Game 533 at 9:00 eastern. Kansas St may be in the right spot at the right time here as they catch Iowa St off their biggest win as a 7 point dog right here vs Kansas. That win as the first over a top 50 ranked RPI Team for Iowa St as they are now 1-3. Kansas St is a solid 7-3 on the road and 3-1 straight up the last 3 years as a road dog of 3 or less. They have won 12 of the last 16 off a loss and 9 of the last 12 Tuesday night games. Look for Kansas St to emerge with the win. On Tuesday we have a Trio of solid plays. The 100% NCAAB RPI Power Angle play, a 20-2 NHL Power play side and a 90% NBA Totals system. Jump on and end the month big tonight. For the free play take Kansas St. -Rob Vinciletti

NBA Pick: Atlanta Hawks -5.5
The Atlanta Hawks have won two straight games, four of their last five and eight of their L/10 overall. Atlanta laid a huge 94-72 smackdown on the Hornets two nights ago and I like them to do so to the Raptors tonight despite the fact that Toronto has actually been playing some pretty competent basketball in winning three of their last four games, including their impressive 94-73 win over the Nets the last time out. The Hawks are a nearly perfect 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games as a favorite and an equally impressive 4-1-1 ATS in their last half-dozen games as a road favorite. Atlanta has also compiled a blistering 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings against the Raptors while the Road team in this series is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings. Last but not least, the Hawks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Toronto. -Eric Williams

NBA Pick: Orlando Magic +7.5
My money is on the Orlando Magic to snap out of their recent funk and give the 76ers everything they can handle tonight. Orlando is simply too strong of a team to continue to play as bad as they have the last few nights. Two straight 20-point losses tends to be a pretty good wake-up call. Orlando matches up well with the 76ers, as they have won seven of the last eight in the series, including each of the last four in Philadelphia. Not to say the 76ers aren’t a good team, but they are extremely overvalued. Philadelphia has played the easiest schedule of any team in the league. If you look at who they have beat, the best team they have beat is Atlanta. The 76ers really don’t have the size to matchup with Howard inside, and there’s a good chance they will be without starting center Spencer Hawes, who has missed the last seven games with a Achilles injury. Orlando is 26-10-1 ATS in their last 37 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog, and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. BET THE MAGIC! -Steve Janus. Get more NBA picks for January 30th 2012 above on our premium picks page.

NBA Pick: Bulls vs. Wizards Over 189.5
Chicago playing back-to-back here on Monday after a tough loss at Miami on Sunday. While the Bulls trailed the entire game at Miami, they did have a shot to tie the game very late but came up short in the loss to the Heat, 97-93. When we think of the Bulls we usually think low scoring, defensive games. However, this year’s club has been putting some big numbers on the board, scoring over 100 points in four of their last six games and eight times on the season. In fact, the Bulls are 10th in the league in scoring with a 97 ppg average. They are also the best rebounding team in the NBA (45.4 rpg) and still play great defense, ranked 2nd (87 ppg allowed). Meanwhile, the Wizards defense will have its hands full here on Monday. Washington has the 25th worst scoring defense (98.3 ppg) so I fully expect the Bulls to break that century mark again on Monday. I’m a bit surprised we get a low total here around 190. So can the Wizards get 90 or more points? In their last eight games the Wizards have scored over 100 points in four contests and under 90 in just two. I like this game OVER on Monday as the Bulls will look to take out some of Sunday’s frustrations on the Wizards. I’m going OVER between the Bulls and Wizards on Monday. -Jim Feist

Pick: Charlotte Bobcats +16
It might seem like an easy play to lay the 16-points and roll the 76ers tonight, but my money is on the Bobcats to keep this game closer than expected. I understand that Charlotte is dealing with a bunch of injuries, but anytime you show this much disrespect to a team, favoring the other team by 16 points, it tends to bring out the best in them. The 76ers know they can win this game with their backups, and I have a hard time seeing this team being all that motivated to play their best basketball. Knowing that they have to play another game on Saturday, only adds to them not laying it all on the line tonight. Charlotte has been a double-digit underdog 7 times this season, they are 5-2 ATS in those games! Charlotte is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a road underdog of 11.0 or greater and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600! BET THE BOBCATS! -Steve Janus

Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves +1
The Minnesota Timberwolves have finally returned to relevance this season. The Timberwolves are a respectable 8-10 this season, with four losses by four points or less to the likes of the Thunder, Heat, Grizzlies and Hawks, which are four of the best teams in the league. San Antonio has looked pretty unstoppable at home this season, but they are far from it on the road. The Spurs are 2-6 SU & 2-6 ATS in road games this year, getting outscored by an average of 8.3 points/game. They are giving up a ridiculous 104.4 points/game on 50.8 percent shooting away from home. One of San Antonio’s road losses this season came at Minnesota, where the Timberwolves won 106-96 on January 2nd. The Wolves had previously lost 16 straight to the Spurs, though three of their last four losses came by six points or less, so they were close to turning the corner. The Wolves still want revenge from all those years of getting own by the Spurs, so don’t look for them to let up tonight. Their confidence is finally where it needs to be. The Spurs are 3-13 ATS in their last 16 road games overall, including 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games as a road favorite. The Timberwolves are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games as an underdog, including 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a home underdog. Bet Minnesota Friday. -Jack Jones

Pick: Canisius +10
Off 3 straight double-digit losses, Canisius will be ready to leave it all on the floor in front of the home fans tonight. Manhattan is tied atop the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and the Golden Griffins know they better show up if they hope to avoid an embarrassing defeat. Canisius has had little trouble showing up against the Jaspers. It has won 3 straight in the series and has either won or lost by 10 points or less in 10 of the last 12. It is worth noting that the underdog is an impressive 8-3-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings. The Golden Griffins have been too good of an investment on Friday nights to ignore. We’re talking 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 Friday games. Recent history also suggests they’ll be motivated by Sunday’s 24-point loss. Consider that the Golden Griffs are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a loss of more than 20 points. We’ll take the points. -Jimmy Boyd

Pick: New Jersey Nets +13.5
The Chicago Bulls are expected to get back starting point guard Derrick Rose, but there is a good chance they will be playing without Luol Deng. I don’t think people understand just how important Deng is to the Bulls. Chicago will also be without backup power forward Taj Gibson, who is another very underrated player. The Bulls success comes from their defense. Without Deng and Gibson that defense will take a hit, which is why I will gladly take the 13.5-points. There is no question getting Rose back is a big plus for the Bulls, but I don’t expect him to dominate this game going up against another top point guard in Deron Williams. New Jersey is 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games as a road underdog of 11.0 or greater, while the Bulls are just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games as a home favorite of 11.0 or greater. BET THE NETS! -Steve Janus

Pick: Golden State Warriors -1.5
Memphis will be without star forward Zach Randolph tonight. Memphis is scoring only 84.9 points per game on the road this year. Golden State is 3-0 SU and ATS at home vs Memphis the past 3 years. Grizzlies are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games. Grizzlies are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games as an underdog. Grizzlies are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games as a road underdog. Warriors are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games playing on 2 days rest. Home team is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings. Favorite is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings. We’ll recommend a small play on Golden State tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky Atkinson

Pick: Syracuse -5.5
Free Play from Doc’s Sports. #743 Take Syracuse over Cincinnati (7 p.m., Monday) I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong, and still am, about Syracuse not being a legit top team this season. But the Orange do have to play its first game with a loss after losing to Notre Dame over the weekend. I think Syracuse bounces back in style. Let’s face it – the Big East is down across the board this year. But you still have to be impressed that the ‘Cuse have won all its Big East games by an average of over 15 points per contest. I don’t think Cincy matches up well with the 2-3 zone, nor the depth the Orange can throw at the Bearcats. You add in a team looking to avoid a second straight loss to a lesser league foe, and that makes a good recipe for a comfortable win for the road favorites. Lay the number with Syracuse. -Doc’s Sports

Pick: Orlando Magic -4
If you are looking for a great value play on Friday, lock in the Orlando Magic -4 at home against the Los Angeles Lakers! The Lakers looked horrible on both sides of the floor in their loss to the Heat last night. They simply couldn’t match the energy of the Heat, which is pretty surprising considering the magnitude of that game. In my opinion the Lakers are a tired basketball team, and there is little reason to believe they are going to pick up the intensity against the Magic, especially playing in the second game of a back-to-back set on the road. Los Angeles has been a horrible team on the road this season. They are just 1-5 straight up and 1-5 ATS. Their only win came at Utah, a game in which they needed overtime. Orlando comes into the game off a 83-85 overtime loss to the Spurs at home. It was just the fourth loss of the season for Orlando. They have followed up their first three losses of the season by going out and winning the next time out, all by at least 7-points. Los Angeles is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a road underdog of 0.5-4.5. BET THE MAGIC! -Steve Janus

Pick: Philadelphia 76ers -6
The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the best teams in the league this season. Philly has opened 10-4 this year while going a very profitable 11-3 against the spread. They have been nearly unstoppable at home. The 76ers are 6-1 SU & 6-1 ATS at home this season, outscoring opponents by 19.1 points/game. This team has been tremendous following a loss this year, having yet to lose back-to-back games. Philly is 3-0 SU & 3-0 ATS in their last 3 following a loss, winning by 26.3 points/game. Atlanta is 4-3 on the road this year, but three of those wins came against New Jersey twice and Charlotte. This will be one of their toughest road tests yet. The 76ers are 8-0 ATS (+8.0 Units) when the total is between 180 and 189.5 points this season. Philly is 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games as a favorite. The 76ers are 33-16-2 ATS in their last 51 games playing on 1 days rest. Take Philadelphia and lay the points. -Black Widow

Pick: Memphis Grizzlies -4
The Memphis Grizzlies are showing solid value Friday as a mere 4-point road favorite over the lowly Detroit Pistons. Memphis continues to impressive after their playoff run last season, while Detroit remains a bottom feeder in this league. This one certainly has blowout written all over it tonight. Detroit is 3-12 SU & 4-11 ATS in all games this season. As you can see, they have made faders a lot of money this year already. The Pistons are only scoring 85.0 points/game this season on 42.5 percent shooting. They are giving up 94.7 points/game on 47.1 percent shooting, and getting outscored by 9.7 points/game. The Grizzlies come in red hot, putting together a 4-game winning streak with four straight wins by six points or more. What’s most impressive is that they are shooting 48.6 percent as a team during this stretch despite playing without Zach Randolph. Memphis is 3-0 SU & 3-0 ATS in their last 3 meetings with Detroit, winning each by six points or more. The Grizzlies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a road favorite. Memphis is 22-6 ATS in their last 28 games as a favorite. The Grizzlies are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400. The Pistons are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games. Bet Memphis Friday. -Jack Jones

Pick: Southern Illinois -2.5
Motivated by a blowout loss at Creighton last game, and further fueled by a 5-game losing streak to Drake, expect Southern Illinois to take care of business at home this evening. Drake hasn’t been the same team away from home where it is just 2-6 SU and ATS this season. In fact, the Bulldogs, who are coming off a 17-point win over Illinois State, are 0-7 ATS in road games following a win by 10 points or more over the last 2 seasons. Amazingly, Drake has lost by an average score of 85.4 to 56.6 in this situation. Southern Illinois has quietly won 3 of its last 4 at home with the lone loss during this stretch coming to a Wichita State, which is currently tied with Creighton atop the conference. It is worth noting that SIU covered the spread in each of those 4 home games. They’ve covered the number in 8 of their last 12 overall, and I like them to get come through again this evening. Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves -8.5
Minnesota isn’t exactly a team I would normally lay 8.5-points on, but with the Pistons coming to town I can’t pass up, especially with Detroit playing the second of back-to-back road games. Detroit has won just one road game all season, and that came against a bad Charlotte team. In their six losses they Pistons have lost every game by at least 9 points. While Minnesota is just 3-5 at home, two of those wins came against the Mavericks and Spurs. Not only are the Pistons playing the second game of a back-to-back set on the road, but this is their fourth road and fifth game overall in the last week. Detroit comes in off two straight losses, and are a miserable 3-12 ATS in road games after 2 or more consecutive losses over the last 2 seasons. Not to mention the Pistons are just 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games as a road underdog of 5.0-10.5. Minnesota comes in of a 13-point win and cover against the Kings at home. The Timberwolves are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall, 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS win, and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
