Prediction: Los Angeles Angels -175
We’ll lay the juice on the Los Angeles Angels Wednesday. The Angels picked up a game in the wild-card race yesterday, and now sit just 3.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox. They are also five back to the Rangers, and this is clearly a must-win situation for them. We like their chances with Ace Dan Haren on the mound. Haren is 15-9 with a 3.24 ERA and 1.026 WHIP in 32 starts this season. He’ll be up against Dustin McGowan, who has struggled mightily in limited action for the Blue Jays. McGowan sports a 7.50 ERA and 1.750 WHIP in 12 innings pitched in 2011, giving up 10 runs, 11 hits and 10 walks. The Angels are 10-2 in their last 12 games as a favorite of -151 to -200. Los Angeles is 37-14 in their last 51 games as a favorite. The Blue Jays are 1-7 in McGowan’s last 8 starts as an underdog of +151 to +200. Take the Angels on the Money Line. -Black Widow
Prediction: San Diego Padres -110
Colorado is 18-31 this year in day games. San Diego has won 4 of their last 5 games overall. Colorado has now lost 6 games in a row. San Diego bullpen has a 3.04 ERA overall this year and a 3.48 ERA on the road this season. Anthony Bass is 1-0 with a 1.88 ERA overall in 25 appearances this year. Bass has started one game where he is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA and that happened to be in Colorado on June 13th of this year. Aaron Cook is 3-9 with a 5.47 ERA overall this year, 1-4 with a 4.73 ERA at home and 0-2 with an 8.22 ERA his last 3 starts. We’ll recommend a small play on San Diego today! Thanks and good luck, Rocky Atkinson
Prediction: Cleveland Indians -145
A pair of teams that are out of it after contending for much of the year. Chicago lefty Mark Buehrle is looking his age, tiring out with an 0-3 record and an 11.74 ERA his last three starts. The White Sox are 1-5 in Buehrle’s last 6 starts. The Indians have pounded him this season for 33 base runners in 19 innings (7.11 ERA). Cleveland has home field and a young arm in Ubaldo Jimenez, who has a 2-1 record and a 2.79 ERA his last three starts. The Indians are 4-1 in Jimenez’s last 5 starts. Play the Indians! -Jim Feist (Handicapperspicks.com)

MLB Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -140
The Cardinals enter their series with the Reds with plenty of momentum after pulling off a 3-game sweep at first place Milwaukee. Cincinnati, meanwhile, limps in after losing 4 in a row to Philadelphia. Look for the Cards to keep it rolling tonight with former Cy Young winner Chris Carpenter on the hill. He’s 14-4 (16-6 on the ML) with an ERA of 2.23 in 22 career starts against the Reds. He held Cincy to a single run in 16 innings of work in a pair of wins in July. The Cardinals are 12-2 in Carpenter’s last 14 starts vs. the Reds and 7-1 in his last 8 home starts against them. It’s also worth noting that the Reds are 19-45 in their last 64 meetings in St. Louis. Take the Cards. -Jimmy Boyd
MLB Pick: Boston Red Sox -133
On Friday the Free MLB System Side is on the Boston Red Sox. Game 924 at 7:10 eastern. Boston fits the solid 18-4 system that simply plays on home favorites vs an opponent off a home favored by 5 or more runs if they left 4 or less men on base. Boston lost a tough one last night to The Yankees. However they are still averaging 6.7 runs per game the past week and have won 8 of 12 at home when the total is 10 to 10.5. They have won 9 of 10 when A. Miller starts. Texas has Holland. In his only start here Holland lasted just 4+ innings getting pulled after allowing 4 runs. Miller shut Texas down last week in 6+ innings not allowing a run. Look for Boston to take the opener. On Friday there are 2 top tier plays the Highest rated AL Central total from a 100% system and the 100% Perfect Power Angle play in College football. Thursday football sweeps going 2-0. Jump on tonight and Cash out both of these top plays. For the free Play take the Redsox. -Rob Vinciletti (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Boston Red Sox -109
Boston exploded for 11 runs to beat Texas yesterday, and I like its bats to come up big again in this one. The Red Sox, who are batting .279 and scoring 5.2 runs/game off lefty starters this season, will gladly welcome lefty Matt Harrison to the hill. Harrison has a 5.82 ERA in 3 starts against the Red Sox, who are 25-8 in their last 33 games vs. a left-handed starter. Look for Boston to stay hot at the plate and for Beckett to take care of the rest. Bet Bean Town. -Jeff Alexander
Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 +112
I really like the Blue Jays to bounce back with a big win against the Royals on Wednesday, especially after watching their ace get lit up on Tuesday. Toronto is a respectable 9-3 in their L12 games following a loss and 20-7 in their last 27 games as a favorite of -151 to -200. The Blue Jays will send out Ricky Romero to take the mound against Luke Hochevar of the Royals. Romero is 6-3 with 2.81 ERA at home this season and 3-0 with a 1.12 ERA and 0.542 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Hochevar is just 2-5 with a 4.87 ERA on the road and 0-2 with a 4.74 ERA in his last three starts. Romero is 10-0 vs. an AL team with an on base percentage .330 or worse in the second half of the season over the last 2 seasons. Winning by an average score of Romero 5.9, Opponent 1.9! BET THE BLUE JAYS! -Steve Janus
Pick: San Francisco Giants -1.5 +134
The Giants have won 10 of Lincecum’s last 14 starts against the Padres, and the last six wins have all come by 2 runs or more. Lincecum has been pitching like the 2-time Cy Young winner he is for over 2 months now. He hasn’t allowed more than 3 earned runs in a game in 12 straight starts. He has allowed 2 earned runs or fewer in 11 of those starts. San Diego’s Stauffer hasn’t been nearly as good on the road. He’s been rocked in his last 3 road starts (all losses), giving up 18 runs in 15 2-3 innings of work. Take the defending champs on the run line. -Dave Price (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Boston Red Sox -130
Expect the Red Sox, who have won their last 4 games in Kansas City, to continue their dominance over the Royals, who have lost 6 of their last 7 overall. KC has been a pure fade with Paulino on the hill. The Royals are 0-6 in his last 6 starts, 0-4 in his last 4 home starts and 0-6 in his last 6 starts vs. a team with a winning record. The Red Sox are 6-2 in Wakefield’s last 8 starts and 6-1 in his last 7 starts as a favorite. We’ll take the Red Sox at a decent price.
Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates -105
The Cincinnati Reds are one of the more disappointing teams in baseball this season and when we see them hit like they did on Friday it makes them even more confusing, Joey Votto, Ryan Hanigan, and Brandon Phillips each homered as the Reds scored 11 runs off of 14 hits. On the mound Homer Bailey allowed six hits and three earned runs while striking out six over five innings of work to get a no decision as it was Travis Wood who got his sixth win of the year and Francisco Cordero got his 25th save. For Saturday afternoon’s game Cincinnati starts Dontrelle Willis who has yet to win a game this year. For the season Willis has allowed 41 hits and 18 earned runs while striking out 28 over 39.2 innings of work. Cincinnati is 3-5 in their lst eight road games, 1-6 in their last seven road games against a right handed starter, and 2-5 in Willis’ last seven starts. Cincinnati is 2-6 in the last eight meetings of these two. TAKE PITTSBURGH HERE -Bob Wingerter
Pick: Detroit Tigers -141
The Tigers have won 18 of their last 21 at home against the Tribe, and I look for them to extend the streak Saturday. The Indians are a lousy 3-13 in Huff’s last 16 starts, 2-10 in his last 12 road starts and 1-6 in his last 7 road starts vs. a team with a winning record. We’ll take the Tigers. -Dave Price (Handicapperspicks.com)

LA Angels are 38-18 last 3 years on the road when the money line is -100 to -125. LA Angels are 88-51 last 3 years in day games. LA Angels are 5-1 this year when playing on artificial turf. Toronto has lost 3 of their last 4 games. LA Angels bullpen has a 3.36 ERA overall this year. Jered Weaver is 14-5 with a 1.78 ERA overall this year, 8-4 with a 1.99 ERA on the road this season and 1-1 with a 1.59 ERA his last 3 starts. Weaver is 7-1 with a 2.68 ERA overall vs Toronto since 1997. We’ll recommend a small play on LA Angels today! Thanks and good luck, Rocky Atkinson
Pick: Boston Red Sox -138
I will take Boston anytime they are listed at -138 with Josh Beckett starting. Beckett is 9-4 with a 2.17 ERA on the season and has really pitched well on the road with a 2.38 ERA and 0.846 WHIP. The Red Sox are 24-8 in their last 32 vs. a team with a losing record,35-16 in their last 51 road games, and 5-1 in Becketts last 6 starts vs. American League West. -Steve Janus
Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -168
The New York Mets are sending pitcher Mike Pelfrey to the hill on Saturday when they try to even the series up against the D’backs in Arizona. Pelfrey has five career starts against the Diamondbacks, and he has really struggled against Arizona in his career with a losing record of 1-5 and a high ERA of 5.82 and WHIP score over 1.60. The Arizona Diamondbacks are playing well at home this season as the D’backs have a winning record of 33-27 at their home park. TAKE ARIZONA MINUS -Bob Wingerter (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Boston Red Sox -154
Play on Boston at 10:10 ET. This is the best team in the American League against one of its worst and the price is not that bad. Seattle has lost 19 of 23 against teams with a winning record. They face John Lackey, who seems to have turned things around of late with a 5-0 record his last six starts. Lackey has traditionally pitched very well here at Safeco Field (used to pitch here all the time when a member of the Angels) w/ a 1.45 ERA and no losses in his last six visits. The Mariners are 0-12 vs. AL teams with an OBP of .345 or better this season. 10* on Boston (w/ Lackey). -Tom Freese
Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -150
Even since Ian Kennedy became a quality starter, the Snakes have been more consistent overall when hitting the bump. Since former Philadelphia infielder Rick Schu became the hitting coach (replacing Kevin Seitzer) the lineup has improved from the batting average standpoint. Currently, Arizona has won back-to-back games and now set up at home against the traveling Mets who have problems historically out west. Arizona has won 5 of the 6 in the series at home. With the Mets losing their last two games in the San Diego series and now traveling overnight to Arizona, I’ll take a ticket with Ian Kennedy (14-3, 3.20) and company. -Brad Diamond (Handicapperspicks.com)
