NBA Pick: Suns vs. Lakers Under 2011
The Lakers are playing exceptional defense, riding an 8-2 run under the total. They have so much flashy offense that the public sees them as an uptempo offensive team, but their defense has been turning it up a notch the last month. The public also sees the Suns as a run-and-gun team, but oddsmakers have overvalued them, riding a 6-0 run under the total. The Under is 40-19 in the Lakers last 59 overall and the Under is 37-14 in the Lakers last 51 games playing on 1 days rest. Play the Suns/Lakers Under the total. -Jim Feist

NHL Pick: Colorado Avalanche +109
Columbus is 2-10 last 12 overall games. Colorado is 29-9 last 38 overall meetings in this series since 1996. Colorado is 16-3 at home vs Columbus since 1996. Blue Jackets are 52-112-6 in their last 170 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation. Blue Jackets are 4-9 in their last 13 games as a road favorite. Blue Jackets are 119-272-15 in their last 406 road games. Blue Jackets are 4-10 in their last 14 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Blue Jackets are 2-7 in their last 9 Tuesday games. Blue Jackets are 1-4 in their last 5 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation. Blue Jackets are 3-14 in their last 17 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Blue Jackets are 1-5 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. Blue Jackets are 2-10 in their last 12 overall. Blue Jackets are 1-6 in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. Blue Jackets are 1-8 in their last 9 vs. Western Conference. Home team is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings. We’ll recommend a small play on Colorado tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky Atkinson

NCAAB Pick: Colorado Buffaloes -10
The Buffaloes have been dominant at home, where they are 17-2 this season with an average victory margin of 15.9 points. They have been nothing short of impressive in their first two home games in the NIT with wins of 14 and 17 points. Colorado has been at home in its comfort zone for a lengthy period of time while Kent State has had to travel to St. Mary’s and Fairfield. Winning a 3rd straight on the road figures to be too much to ask of the Golden Flashes, especially with only a day to prepare. Consider that Colorado is a perfect 6-0 ATS in home games after playing a home game under coach Boyle, winning these contests by an average of 20.0 points. The Golden Flashes are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog of 7.0-12.5 points while the Buffaloes are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite of 7.0-12.5 points. Colorado appears to have shaken off its NCAA tourney snub and has its sights set on an NIT title. We’ll lay the points. -Jimmy Boyd (Handicapperspicks.com)

Three Sports Betting Predictions for March 27th 2010

Utah Jazz vs. Washington Wizards
Free Pick: Jazz -9 (March 27th 2010 – Big Al McMordie)
At 7:05 pm, our complimentary selection is on the Utah Jazz minus the points over Washington. The Jazz must be scratching their heads after last night’s loss at Conseco Fieldhouse to the Pacers. Utah was winning by 12 midway thru the 3rd quarter, but Indy stormed back and, on the heels of a 28-3 run, blew out the Jazz. Utah certainly was reminded that it’s a 48-minute game, and I expect the Jazz to play its best tonight, and have a “take no prisoners” attitude. Washington, surely, will be motivated to win, as it has lost 14 in a row, but the sad truth is that Flip Saunders just doesn’t have the horses now, after the trades that sent Antawn Jamison to Cleveland and Caron Butler to Dallas (not to mention Gilbert Arenas’ suspension due to legal difficulties). Also, since 1990, .601 (or better) road favorites, priced from -5 to -11 points, are a terrific 158-93 ATS off a loss vs. .399 (or worse) non-division foes. Look for the Jazz to rout the Wizards in our nation’s capital tonight. Good luck, as always…Big Al McMordie.

New Jersey Nets vs. Chicago Bulls
Free Pick: Nets +9 (March 27th 2010 – John Ryan)
We have had strong success with New Jersey recently and nailed them as a 10* Titan winner last night as they defeated the Pistons to match the all-time worst record set by Philadelphia at 9-73. They have actually played well and as unreal as it seems this is their first 2 game winning streak of the season. They have won 4 road games this season and the first as in Chicago. Our proprietary sports handicapping model and simulator shows a high probability that NJ will lose this game by fewer than 10 points. Supporting this graded play is a system that has produced a record of 35-12 ATS for 75% winners since 1996. Play against home favorites of 10 or more points after going under the total by 30 or more points total in their last three games and with a winning percentage of between 45-55% on the season. Take New Jersey.

New York Islanders vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
Free Pick: Blue Jackets -145 (March 27th 2010 – Ben Burns)
The Islanders beat Columbus by a score of 2-1 in this season’s only other meeting. That was at Long Island though, where the Blue Jackets have lost three straight. Today’s rematch is at Columbus. That’s noteworthy as the Jackets are 5-0 (+5.7) the last five times that they hosted the Isles and 5-0 with one tie, all-time. The Jackets have a winning record (19-11-7) at home. The Isles are 10-21-7 on the road. Note that the Jackets have outscored teams by a 17-8 margin their last three games here. Regarding the earlier loss at Long Island, note that the Jackets held a 42-25 edge in shots on goal. While the playoffs are no longer a reality, the Blue Jackets are 5-2-1 since March 8. They blew out a very good Chicago team by a score of 8-3 last time out and are currently playing some of their best hockey of the season. Consider laying the wood.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Los Angeles Kings
Free NHL Pick: Los Angeles (March 8th 2010 – Nick Parsons)
Want more NHL hockey predictions? Visit Handicappers Picks

The Kings are hoping to make it to the “promised land” (Playoffs) this season, but have dropped two in a row; for a number of different reasons I believe LA on the “puck line” is the prudent wager in this circumstance: Columbus (25-19-11) has lost two of its last three visits to visits to LA and is 0-2-2 since winning three in a row; the Blue Jackets lost 6-2 in the last matchup on Oct 25th. Columbus is coming off a disheartening 2-1 loss to the Sharks on Saturday, which was the beginning of a tough three-game California road-swing. Keep in mind that Columbus is just 1-4 its last five overall and a disturbing 4-19 its last 23 on the road. On the other side of the ice: Los Angeles’ Jonathan Quick made 21 saves Saturday but lost for the second straight start. He has beaten Columbus two straight times and is 2-1-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average versus the Blue Jackets this season. Los Angeles remains on a long-term 11-4 overall run; 5-2 at in front of the home town faithful.

Bottom line: The Kings have no mercy on “lesser opponents” as evident by their 18-7 (+6.2 units) mark against teams with a “losing record”. LA is also 12-6 (+3.7 units) after allowing 4 goals or more in its previous contest (lost 4-2 to the Habs on Sat.); which means of course that after a “sub-par” performance, this team responds with a much more concerted effort on both ends of the ice. I believe this is a very bad spot for Columbus as it catches a hungry home team in the middle game of a challenging road trip; lay the 1 1/2 here.
