NFL Pick: Dallas Cowboys -7
The Dallas Cowboys (7-6 SU, 4-8-1 ATS) thought they had their guy when they picked Jason Garrett to be the team’s new head coach after parting ways with Wade Phillips last season. Um, they may want to think again NFL gamblers. Dallas has lost twp straight in horrific fashion, including it s heartbreaking 37-34 loss to NFC East division rival New York in Week 14 while failing to cover the spread as a 4.5-point home favorite just as I expected. Dallas has problems, but certainly not as many as the reeling Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-9 SU, 4-9 ATS), losers of seven straight games and eight of their L/9 games overall. Tampa Bay looked absolutely clueless in its 41-14 blowout loss to Jacksonville the last time out while failing to cash in against the NFL Odds as a 3-point home favorite.
Analysis: I’m going to ‘keep it real’ by saying that I don’t trust either team in this contest. However, I am going to urge Touthouse NFL gamblers to back the Cowboys to narrowly cover the spread, mostly because they’re desperate to keep their hopes alive of winning the mediocre NFC East and reaching the postseason while Tampa Bay has nothing left to play for except pride at this point. Dallas is 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings against Tampa Bay, while the favorite has gone 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall. The Buccaneers are 1-5 ATS in their last half-dozen games and an even more discouraging 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall.

NFL Pick: Green Bay Packers -14
The Green Bay Packers (13-3 SU, 9-4 ATS) looked as dominant as ever in laying an emphatic 46-16 smackdown on the struggling Oakland Raiders the last time out – and won’t have much trouble at all in doing the same thing to the lowly Kansas City Chiefs (5-8 SU, 7-6 ATS) when the two teams meet in this Week 15 mismatch. The Chiefs are coming off a discouraging 37-10 rout at the hands of the New York Jets in Week 14 while never coming close to covering the spread as a 10.5-point road underdog to snap their modest two-game ATS winning streak.
Analysis: Green Bay averages a whopping 22.5 points per game more than Kansas City while also allowing 2.1 points per game fewer than the Chiefs defensively. Making things even worse for the Chiefs is the fact that the Packers have compiled a blistering 8-2 ATS mark in their L/10 games in the month of December and 4-1 ATS in their L/5 games as a favorite of 10.5 points or moreKansas City is 5-1 ATS in their L/6 games as a home underdog and 7-2 ATS in its L/9 games as an underdog overall. Unfortunately, the Chiefs have also gone 1-5 ATS in their last six home games against a team with a winning road record. Kansas City just fired head coach Todd Haley this week – and all of the drama surrounding their organization tells me that K.C. is going down – and going down hard this week. Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +7
At 4:15 pm, our complimentary selection is on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as we will play against New Orleans, which is playing its third straight road game today. Unfortunately for Sean Payton’s crew, NFL teams are a dismal 40-72 ATS on the road after playing 2 games away from home before it, if they won their previous game. With New Orleans in off a victory over Carolina, our 72-40 ATS system is satisfied. Now, even though there’s nothing wrong with 64%, we can improve our system to a sweet 78% by introducing one other element. And that’s to bring our ‘play-on’ team (here, Tampa Bay) in off a loss by more than 20 points. Last week, the Bucs fell 48-3 at San Francisco. Look for Tampa Bay to rebound off that embarassing defeat on Sunday. Take the points. Good luck, as always…Al McMordie.
Pick: New York Giants -3
Giants (-) over Bills- How about those Giants? Two weeks ago the win a game in Arizona that they had no business winning and last week at home they lose to Seattle a team they had no business losing too. Buffalo at 4-1 might be the biggest surprise in the NFL to date but as of now they won’t sneak up on anybody. The Bills pulled out another win last win over the Eagles when Philadelphia just kept making mistakes in clutch critical situations. Take the GIANTS! -Chip Chirimbes
Pick: Cowboys vs. Patriots Over 55.5
These are two of the better passing offenses going up against two defenses that have had trouble stopping the pass. The Patriots have been one of the most explosive offensive teams in the league, averaging over 30 ppg and 495 yards of total offense. On defense the Patriots are giving up 326.6 passing yards a game, which plays right into the hands of the Cowboys attack. Dallas is averaging 331 yards through the air, and are expected to get star wide out Miles Austin back for this game. Both of these teams should be able to put at least 30 points in this game. The OVER is 10-1 in Patriots last 11 games as a home favorite of 3.5-10.0 and 9-1 in Cowboys last 10 games following a S.U. loss. BET THE OVER 55.5! -Steve Janus (Handicapperspicks.com)
Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys
Pick: Detroit Lions +1 (October 2nd 2011)
CLICK HERE FOR EXPERT NFL PICK FOR WEEK 4
Detroit is 3-0 for the first time since 1980 and it’s not a fluke. The Lions right now are who the Cowboys want to be. Detroit has one of the three best defensive fronts, arguably the top wide receiver in Calvin Johnson and an elite quarterback, Matthew Stafford. Johnson leads the league in touchdown receptions with six despite going against quality cornerbacks Brandon Flowers and Aqib Talib. Stafford is averaging 313 yards passing. He has thrown 15 touchdowns and only been picked off three times in his last five games. Injuries have been the only thing that has kept him from greatness.
The youthful Lions probably should have lost last week at Minnesota. However, they overcame a 20-0 halftime deficit. Yes, some of that is on the Vikings and their terrible coaching. But the Lions also showed a lot of mental toughness coming from behind in a tough road setting against a desperate division foe. The Lions pulled the game out just two minutes into overtime. So fatigue shouldn’t factor especially this early in the season with a young team. Detroit is 8-1 ATS following a victory.
Dallas, meanwhile, is playing on a short week off an emotionally draining home win against Washington. The Cowboys were lucky to win that game. They are 1-6 ATS the past seven times they’ve been home chalk. The Cowboys lost and failed to cover in both games last year following their game against Washington. Dallas is far more banged-up than Detroit. Tony Romo is dealing with assorted injuries, including a painful rib injury and a punctured lung. If the Cowboys didn’t have a bye next week they might even sit Romo.
Romo isn’t the only key Dallas skill position player hurt. Miles Austin is out with a hamstring injury and Dez Bryant is going to be a game-time decision as he’s dealing with a lingering quad strain. Those are the Cowboys’ two best wide receivers by far. The rest of Dallas’ wideouts can’t be trusted to even know the plays. Romo isn’t helped either by a porous offensive line. Demarcus Ware is a monster pass rusher, but he alone can’t hide Dallas’ defensive backfield deficiencies, especially where 33-year-old Terence Newman is going to be no match for Johnson. The Lions continue to make positive progress and statements this season. This will be another one. Get more expert week 4 nfl picks at handicapperspicks.com from Stephen Nover.
