Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates +123
I feel that we’re getting solid value with the home underdog Pirates here. Lincoln is 1-2 his last three starts. However, he’s got a stellar 2.50 ERA over those three starts, averaging six complete innings. On the other hand, Lohse is 2-1 but has an ugly 6.43 ERA his last three starts, averaging less than five innings in those games. Lohse is 2-1 with a solid 3.75 ERA vs. the Pirates this season. However, Lincoln is 1-0 with a superb 1.13 ERA in two starts vs. the Cards this season. While they’re below .500, the Pirates have had a somewhat respectable season. They’d love to help ensure that the Cards don’t make the playoffs. Consider Pittsburgh. -Ben Burns
Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -125
Tampa Bay has won 4 in a row and 7 of their last 8 games overall putting them only 3 1/2 games behind Boston in the AL East. Tampa Bay is 45-21 this year when playing against a team with a losing record. Baltimore is 22-56 this year when playing against a team with a winning record. Tampa Bay sends Jeff Niemann to the mound where he has been good on the road with a 6-2 record and a 3.36 ERA this season. Tampa Bay is 5-1 this year when playing at Baltimore. We’ll recommend a small play on Tampa Bay tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky Atkinson (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Los Angeles Angels -129
The Los Angeles Angels are badly in need of a win tonight after back-to-back losses to fall 3.5 games behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West. We’ll back them at this generous price tonight. Jerome Williams was excellent in his season debut for the Angels on 8/21, allowing one earned run and six base runners in seven innings of a 7-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Anthony Vasquez wasn’t as fortunate in his debut for the Mariners on 8/23, yielding five earned runs and 11 base runners in 5 1/3 innings of a 12-7 win. There’s no question we are backing the better starter and the better team tonight. The Angels are 37-16 in their last 53 games as a favorite. The Mariners are 16-40 in their last 56 games as an underdog. Seattle is 1-5 in their last 6 home games. The Angels are 47-21 in the last 68 meetings with Seattle. Take the Angels on the Money Line. -Black Widow
Pick: Cardinals vs. Brewers Over 8.5
On Tuesday the Free MLB Totals system Play is on the Over in the St. Louis at Milwaukee game. Rotation numbers 959/960 at 8:10 eastern. This game fits a totals system that has cashed 15 of 20 times. What we want to do is play the over for home favorites off a home favored win and scored 4 or less runs, vs an opponent also off a home favored win at -140 or higher where they scored 5 or more runs. In the series 4 of the 5 here have flown over the total. The Cardinals have played over in 8 of 10 off a day off this season and average 5 runs per game on the road. The Brewers average 5 runs per game here at home. The pitching also suggests an over. Jackson for the Cardinals has a 5.31 road era and Marcum has a 4.29 home era and an even worse 5.68 era vs the Cardinals. With St. Louis having gone over in 5 of their last 6 we will back the Over for the Free Play. See system below. On Tuesday 2 Top plays are going. The Double Perfect totals system play and a Big Diamond cutter with 2 rare systems and a big pitching edge. Jump on and cash them both. For the Free play take the Over in the Cardinals at Brewers game. -Rob Vinciletti (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: San Francisco Giants -1.5 -104
The Giants don’t score a lot of runs, but they are still showing value on the run line with Vogelsong on the hill. He’s 6-2 (8-3 on the ML) with an ERA of 1.90 at home this season. His last 4 home wins have all come by at least 2 runs. Henry Sosa has made 3 starts for the Astros. He’s 0-2 (0-3 on the ML) with an ERA of 6.35 in those outings. Houston has lost 2 of the 3 by 2 runs or more. The Giants have won 5 of their last 6 at home against the Astros, and those wins have come by an average score of 6.0 to 2.0. It’s also worth noting that Houston is 1-15 in road games in the 2nd half of the season this season vs. NL teams scoring 4.3 or less runs/game. It is losing to these clubs by an average of 2.7 runs. Take the Giants on the run line. Dont’ miss out on Jimmy Boyd’s premium MLB baseball betting picks today at Handicapperspicks.com
Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -165
Play on St. Louis at 8:15 ET. Even though they beat Milwaukee 2-0 yesterday, the Pirates are still struggling. They are 3-15 following a game where only two combined runs or less were scored. They’ve lost 19 of 26 games and going back to last year have some terrible road numbers. They are 28-67 in road night games and are just 36-96 as a road underdog of +150 or more. They are 5-10 L15 games at St. Louis and the Cardinals are going to be an angry bunch after getting swept by the Dodgers. Edwin Jackson has a 2.72 ERA at home this season. Pirates starter Charlie Morton has a 6-20 TSR as an underdog of +100 to +150. 10* on St. Louis. -Tom Freese (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Boston Red Sox -138
I will take Boston anytime they are listed at -138 with Josh Beckett starting. Beckett is 9-4 with a 2.17 ERA on the season and has really pitched well on the road with a 2.38 ERA and 0.846 WHIP. The Red Sox are 24-8 in their last 32 vs. a team with a losing record,35-16 in their last 51 road games, and 5-1 in Becketts last 6 starts vs. American League West. -Steve Janus
Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -168
The New York Mets are sending pitcher Mike Pelfrey to the hill on Saturday when they try to even the series up against the D’backs in Arizona. Pelfrey has five career starts against the Diamondbacks, and he has really struggled against Arizona in his career with a losing record of 1-5 and a high ERA of 5.82 and WHIP score over 1.60. The Arizona Diamondbacks are playing well at home this season as the D’backs have a winning record of 33-27 at their home park. TAKE ARIZONA MINUS -Bob Wingerter (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Chicago Cubs -114
Washington is very good at home, but struggles badly on the road, which is nothing new as they were like this last season. Jordan Zimmermann goes for the Nats, 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA in 11 career innings against Chicago. And the Cubs go with Ryan Dempster, who has dominated Washington in his career, with an 8-1 record and a 2.97 ERA against them. Dempster gave up two runs on four hits over six innings Friday against the Reds while picking up his ninth win of the season. And the Cubs are 12-4 in Dempster’s last 16 starts. Play the Cubs. -Jim Feist
Pick: Chicago White Sox -119
The White Sox get the call as our free play tonight as they stand a good chance of bouncing back from last night’s extra innings defeat. First off, the Orioles are a poor 5-16 in their last 21 games following a win. They are also 0-6 in their last 6 home games vs. a left-handed starter. That’s not good news with Buehrle stepping to the hill for Chicago. The White Sox are 13-3 in his last 16 starts, and he hasn’t allowed more than 3 earned runs in any of those starts. The White Sox are 7-1 in their last 8 road games, and I expect them to keep sizzlin’ away from home tonight. -Jimmy Boyd
Pick: Milwaukee Brewers +120
The Brewers dominance over the Cardinals continued on Wednesday, and I really like Milwaukee’s chances of completing the sweep tonight. Both teams will send out one of their top pitchers,as Yovani Gallardo takes on Chris Carpenter. Gallardo has clearly been the better start of late, posting a 1.23 ERA and 0.727 WHIP in his L3 starts, while Carpenter has a 3.86 ERA and 1.339 WHIP in his L3. The Brewers are also swinging the bats a lot better than the Cardinals right now. Milwaukee has scored 5 or more runs in each of their last 10 games, while the Cardinals are averaging just 3.4 over their last five games. Milwaukee is 21-6 in their last 27 vs. National League Central, 8-2 in Gallardo’s last 10 starts vs. a team with a winning record, and 4-0 in their last 4 during game 3 of a series. Pick: Boston Red Sox -110
I’ll gladly back the Boston Red Sox at this price Monday. Any time you can get the best team in the American League at nearly even money, you should pull the trigger. Boston just took two of three from the Yankees to move into first place in the AL East at 70-43, so they come into this series against Minnesota with a lot of momentum. The Twins had been gaining ground in the AL Central up until last week, but now it appears they have little to no hope to make the playoffs. Minnesota has lost seven of their last eight after getting swept by the Chicago White Sox last series. Tim Wakefield has done an excellent job of eating up innings for the Red Sox this year due to injuries to their starting rotation. Wakefield is 6-4 with a 4.99 ERA and 1.298 WHIP in 15 starts and nine relief appearances. The Red Sox are 10-5 in Wakefield’s 15 starts in 2011. The Twins are hitting .250 and scoring 3.9 RPG, while the Red Sox are batting .280 and scoring 5.5 RPG. The Twins are 1-15 vs. AL teams scoring 5.2 or more runs/game in the second half of the season over the last 3 seasons. The Red Sox are 11-1 in their last 12 games as a road favorite of -110 to -150. Bet the Red Sox Monday. -Jack Jones
Pick: Florida Marlins +105
Braves RH Derek Lowe (6-10, 4.86 ERA) vs. Marlins LH Brad Hand (1-3, 2.86 ERA). Lowe has lost four of his last five decisions and was mauled for eight runs in four innings by the Nationals in his last start. Since the All-Star break, Lowe is 1-3 with a 7.97 ERA and has failed to pitch past the fifth inning in any of his last three starts. In 16 career starts against the Marlins, Lowe has a 7-4 record and 4.79 ERA. He received a no-decision in his only start against Florida on June 8, when he left after 6 2/3 scoreless innings. Hand has shown he can be effective when he limits the number of walks he allows. He’s walked 22 and struck out 21 in 34 2/3 innings this season. He walked only one in his last start, when he allowed two runs in five innings of a no-decision against the Mets. Hand made his big-league debut against the Braves on June 7 and lost a 1-0 decision, despite giving up only one hit (a homer by Alex Gonzalez) in six innings.
