Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans
Game Date/Time: Sunday, October 17th, 1:00 ET
Game Location: Reliant Stadium, Houston, TX
TV/Radio Broadcast: CBS, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Kansas City Chiefs (+4.5) -110 vs. Houston Texans (-4.5) -110: Over/Under 45

We know that this isn’t the greatest teaser number in the world, as we are only crossing over both ’3′s, but the Texans simply aren’t going to lose this game as long as they stay true to their game plan. The Kansas City secondary can certainly be had, though the Indianapolis Colts really didn’t display that last week. The more intriguing matchup is the fact that KC’s offense really shouldn’t be able to get anything going on the ground against a Houston ‘D’ that is only proficient in stopping the rush and awful against the pass. Unless all of a sudden, Matt Cassel and his band of no name receivers figured out how to work the pigskin up the field, we’ll take our chances in NFL betting action with Houston in what might be a must win game.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Game Date/Time: Sunday, October 17th, 1:00 ET
Game Location: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
TV/Radio Broadcast: Fox, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Atlanta Falcons (+3) -125 vs. Philadelphia Eagles (-3) +105: Over/Under 42.5

As long as Michael Vick doesn’t go in this one, it feels like we’re taking candy from a baby in this NFL betting affair. You beat the Falcons by throwing the ball deep against these suspect corners. Kevin Kolb hasn’t proven that he can do that quite yet, even with Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson, the twin speedsters, running routes for him. Atlanta’s rushing game should be good enough to at least keep this game remotely close, though we know that we are getting the better team in the game and nearly two full touchdowns on our side when we are backing the Falcons in this teaser.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Washington Redskins
Game Date/Time: Sunday, October 17th, 8:20 ET
Game Location: FedEx Field, Landover, MD
TV/Radio Broadcast: NBC, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Indianapolis Colts (-3) -115 vs. Washington Redskins (+3) -105: Over/Under 44

Ask yourself this question. Are the Colts really going to lose a game by more than a touchdown any time in the near future? If Peyton Manning is really on the field for the full 60 minutes, it isn’t happening. Surely, Washington might be able to steal this NFL betting affair, as we know that the Colts have looked iffy at best on the road so far this season, but to win by more than a TD? Preposterous!

My NFL Week 6 Teaser Pick: 10-point super teaser – Houston Texans (+5.5) / Atlanta Falcons (+13) / Indianapolis Colts (+7)

NFL Predictions: Carolina Panthers vs. New York Giants Teaser Pick: September 12th 2010

September 10th, 2010

Of all the games on the Week 1 slate in the NFL preseason, one game stands out quite a bit as one that you can cash in on in a big way. The New York Giants will take on the Carolina Panthers in a game that sets up perfectly for an in-game football betting teaser.

Carolina Panthers vs. New York Giants
Game Date/Time: Sunday, September 12th, 1:00 ET
Game Location: New Meadowlands Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
TV/Radio Broadcast: Fox, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Carolina Panthers (+6.5) -110 VS. New York Giants (-6.5) -110: Over/Under: 41

The first problem that the Panthers are going to have in this game is their youth. Matt Moore is still relatively inexperienced as a starting quarterback, and he is the cornerstone of a youth movement for the visitors. Carolina is the youngest team in the NFL coming into this year with an average age just under the age of 26. Only five players on the entire team are over the age of 30.

The rushing game is going to probably be the focus for head coach John Fox in the first game of what could be his last year with the team. And why not? DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart were both good for 1,100+ yards last year, and both could go for 100 on most defenses.

The problem? Running the ball isn’t how you beat this New York team. Safeties Kenny Phillips and Antrel Rolle are ball hawkers, and they can easily roll up into the box and challenge opposing rushing games, especially against weak passing games like Carolina’s. The Giants ranked in the bottom third of the league last year against the pass, and unfortunately for Carolina, that porous secondary probably won’t be stretched, particularly if Steve Smith is slowed at all by his arm injury suffered before training camp.

The Giants are going to be as strong as ever offensively, as Eli Manning might be poised for an MVP type of season. He has all of his weapons back intact once again after a year in which he replaced them all. Hakeem Nicks, Steve Smith, and Mario Manningham looked like they were going to be a weakness for Big Blue last year, but they ended up being anything but. Now, this four pack of stars could make all the difference in the world against a team that just doesn’t have the same pass rush it used to without the services of Julius Peppers coming off the end.

Last year, Carolina marched into the Meadowlands and won 41-9 in the final game ever played there. Now, the New Meadowlands is about to get a regular season christening, and we fail to see any other result than a Big Apple beat down. The only question is whether there will be enough points scored to reach this ‘total’ or not. We tend to believe not, especially if we pick up an extra six points.

My NFL Preseason Predictions: 6-point teaser: New York Giants -0.5 w/ Under 47

Miami Dolphins vs. Dallas Cowboys
Game Date/Time: Thursday, September 2nd, 8:00 ET
Game Location: Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Irving, TX
TV/Radio Broadcast: Local TV, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Miami Dolphins (+3) -110 vs. Dallas Cowboys (-3) -110: Over/Under 37

The Cowboys are going to throw their first team offense on the field on Thursday night for at least a few drives against Miami, and that could really make all the difference in a game that is more important than most in Big D probably perceive it to be. Dallas is going to want to get some mojo going for the start of the regular season, and though the team has a 2-2 record both SU and ATS, it really has yet to play a fantastic game. This is a solid spot for your NFL teasers.

Chicago Bears vs. Cleveland Browns
Game Date/Time: Thursday, September 2nd, 8:00 ET
Game Location: Cleveland Browns Stadium, Cleveland, OH
TV/Radio Broadcast: Local TV, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Chicago Bears (-3) +100 vs. Cleveland Browns (+3) -120: Over/Under 36.5

The Bears have struggled offensively all preseason long, and we don’t see how that is going to change in this game. Seeing them put 20 on the board would be a heck of an accomplishment even if the first team does end up playing longer than expected. The Browns have really played poor defense, but they have run up against some relatively strong offenses and have been put in bad situations. This is going to be a great chance for this unit to shine. Though teasing either team probably wouldn’t be a bad call, we just don’t see a way that this game gets to 47 points, so back the ‘under’.

Carolina Panthers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Game Date/Time: Thursday, September 2nd, 7:30 ET
Game Location: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
TV/Radio Broadcast: Local TV, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Carolina Panthers (+5.5) -110 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5) -110: Over/Under 37

The number 27 is a key one in NFL preseason games, as a vast majority of games actually reach that figure in spite of the fact that it sometimes doesn’t feel that way. The offenses for both of these teams need to get in gear, and we expect both to find the end zone at least twice. The Steelers are still trying to figure out which quarterback is going to start the season, while John Fox simply won’t let his team go the whole preseason without finding the end zone offensively. The ‘over’ is the right way to go.

My NFL Preseason Predictions: 10-point Super Teaser – Dallas Cowboys (+7) / Chicago-Cleveland Under 46.5 / Carolina-Pittsburgh Over 27
