Prediction: Arizona Diamondbacks +102
On Tuesday the MLB Free Play is on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Game 978 at 9:35 eastern. Arizona quickly finds themselves down 0-2 after dropping a pair In Milwaukee over the weekend. Tonight , however they return home in hopes of staving off elimination as they take on the Brewers with young Josh Collmenter making his first career playoff start. Collmenter has been solid in his 2 starts vs Milwaukee. In those starts he has a total of 14 inning without allowing a single run on just 6 hits and one walk. Tonight he opposes S. Marcum. In his last 3 starts Marcum has a mediocre 6.62 era. Arizona has won 12 of 18 as a home dog from +100 to +125. Look for Arizona to get the win and live another day. Take Arizona. On Tuesday the lead play is the 2011 Highest rated total of the year. The game is backed with a 100% Angle and several pitching angles. MLB playoffs off to a hot start cashing all 3 selections. Prediction: Phillies vs. Cardinals Under 7.5
Expect a pitcher’s duel to result in a low-scoring game. Hamels is 7-3 on the road with a 2.85 ERA and Garcia is 9-4 at home with a 2.55 ERA. Hamels is carrying a 3.27 ERA in 9 career starts against the Cards and Garcia has an ERA of 0.96 in 4 career starts against the Phillies. Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -104
The Phillies 4-2 win over Atlanta on Monday showed me that this team isn’t going to just roll over the final three games of the season and let the Braves walk into the playoffs. I actually think Philadelphia would prefer that the Braves don’t make it. They figure to have a great shot at winning game 2 of the series with Roy Oswalt on the mound against Derek Lowe. Oswalt has dominated the Braves since joining the Phillies, he is 1-0 with a 1.71 ERA in four starts with three of those starts resulting in Phillies wins. Lowe has not had much success of late against Philadelphia, allowing 9 ER on 18 hits over 11 innings in his last two starts. Lowe is also 0-3 with a 7.98 ERA and 1.978 WHIP in his last three starts. Philadelphia is 10-2 in their last 12 road games vs. a team with a winning record and 12-4 in their last 16 games following a win. BET THE PHILLIES! -Steve Janus
Pick: Florida Marlins -152
I like the Marlins with Vazquez on the mound tonight. The Marlins have won each of his last 6 starts, during which he has only allowed a total of 4 earned runs in 43 innings. He has been nearly unhittable recently, not allowing a run in his last 3 starts spanning 22 innings. He’s also won his last 2 starts against the Nats, giving up only 1 run in 16 innings of work. Lannan hasn’t been as good for Washington, and the Nationals are 2-6 in his last 8 starts as a result. They are 1-4 in his last 5 starts vs. the Marlins. The Nationals are 20-51 in the last 71 meetings in this series and 17-35 in the last 52 meetings in Florida. We’ll take the Marlins. -Jimmy Boyd
Pick: Yankees vs. Rays Under 8.5
The Rays are now tied with the BoSox for the wildcard and for Tampa Bay’s part, this is a playoff series. Hellickson is 3-2 with a 2.03 ERA in his L7 starts for the homies. Bartolo Colon was lit by the Ray at the Stadium just five days ago but has good numbers at the Trop and July 19th lost this same matchup with Hellickson 3-2. The Yankees are resting their regualrs and the series is 6-2 to the under in L8. Further, Ray home games are 49-25 Low. Runs will be tough to come in this playoff atmosphere. Play the Under. -Dennis Macklin (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -130
The Philadelphia Phillies are on a roll right now. Philly has won three straight and eight of their last 10 to get to 91-48 on the season. I’ll side with this red hot team tonight as they have the edge on the mound over Milwaukee. The Brewers have lost two straight and five of their last nine to come back down to reality. Milwaukee isn’t a team that has played well over the final month in recent years, which has cost them a shot at playing in the postseason time and time again. Chris Narveson sports a 4.26 ERA and 1.385 WHIP in 25 starts thsi season for Milwaukee. He’s up against Cole Hamels, who is 13-7 with a 2.63 ERA and 0.968 WHIP in 27 starts. Hamels is 5-2 with a 3.17 ERA and 1.006 WHIP in nine career starts against Milwaukee, while Narveson is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA and 1.542 WHIP in two career starts against Philly. The Phillies are 28-9 against left-handed starters this season. Philly is 50-17 in their last 67 games as a favorite. The Brewers are 7-19 in their last 26 games as a home underdog of +110 to +150. Roll with the Phillies Thursday. -Jack Jones
Pick: Chicago White Sox -149
We’ll side with the Chicago White Sox at home Thursday against the struggling Cleveland Indians. Cleveland has lost three straight and are really banged up right now with injuries. They send David Huff to the mound, who is 1-2 with a 5.65 ERA and 1.396 WHIP in his last three outings. The White Sox counter with Gavin Floyd, who is 2-0 with a 2.79 ERA and 0.879 WHIP in his last three starts. Huff sports an 8.05 ERA and 1.852 WHIP in three lifetime starts versus Chicago, while Floyd is 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA in three 2011 starts versus Cleveland. We are backing the better starter and the better team in this one tonight folks. Take the White Sox on the Money Line. -Black Widow (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates -142
The Cubs have packed in the lost season, particularly on the road, where they have been awful. Going with Rodrigo Lopez for this game is not a plus, with a 5.29 ERA his last three starts. Chicago has terrible defense in the field behind him. The Cubs are 7-15 in their last 22 road games vs. a right-handed starter and 9-23 in their last 32 road games. Pittsburgh righty James McDonald has been throwing well, with a 2.70 ERA his last three starts and a 2-1 record. And the Pirates are 6-0 in McDonald’s last 6 starts vs. a team with a losing record. Play the Pirates! -Jim Feist
Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -134
The Phillies are looking for some revenge here after losing 2 of 3 to the Giants at home last week. They’ve rattled off 6 straight wins since that series, and I expect them to make it 7 in a row tonight. The Phillies have the edge on the mound with Lee. They are 7-1 in his last 8 road starts vs. a team with a winning record and 5-0 in his last 5 starts as a favorite of -110 to -150. Lee threw a lot of pitchers in his last start but that is no cause for concern. In fact, the Phillies are 6-0 in his last 6 starts after throwing more than 120 pitches in his last appearance. The Giants have lost 5 of 6 since they last faced Philly, and they are 0-4 in their last 4 series openers. Bumgarner is a good young pitcher, but he’s no Lee. The Giants have lost 12 of his 22 starts this season, and they are only 3-7 in his last 10 series-opening starts. Take the Phillies. -Jimmy Boyd (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -145
The Rays get the call as our free play with ace David Price set to take the mound. Tampa Bay is an impressive 25-8 in Price’s starts against AL East foes the last 3 seasons, and much of that damage has been done against Toronto. Price is 8-0 (9-0 on the ML) with an ERA of 1.99 in 9 career starts against the Blue Jays. He’s allowed 1 or no runs in 7 of those outings. Price should be very fresh tonight having not pitched since last Tuesday. The extended rest bodes well for us as the Rays are 5-0 in his last 5 starts coming on 6 days’ rest. Toronto’s struggles in Tampa Bay are also worth noting. The Jays are only 7-25 in their last 32 road games in this series. We’ll take the Rays tonight. -Jimmy Boyd
Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -117
Philadelphia is 68-39 overall this year while Colorado comes in with a 51-57 overall record this season. Philadelphia is 38-20 the past 3 years on the road when the money line is -100 to -125. Philadelphia has won 4 in a row heading into tonight. Philadelphia bullpen has a 3.39 ERA overall this year and a 3.45 ERA on the road this season. Kyle Kendrick has a 3.32 ERA his last 3 starts. Aaron Cook is 2-5 with a 5.05 ERA overall this year and 0-3 at home this season. Philadelphia has won 15 of 20 meetings vs Colorado the past 3 years including 7-2 at Colorado. Cook is 2-6 with a 6.13 ERA overall vs Philadelphia since 1997. We’ll recommend a small play on Philadelphia tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky Atkinson (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -122
Phillies starter Cliff Lee is in one of those zones where opposing hitters have no chance against him. He has thrown back-to-back complete game shutouts. Most pitchers would be due for a bad start, but he had nine starts in a row where he threw 8 or more innings in 2010. He does draw a tough challenge in the Red Sox, but Boston has struggled to score runs of late, averaging just 2.8 over their last 5 games. The Red Sox also lose DH David Ortiz playing at Philadelphia. The Phillies are 30-13 at home this season, and want nothing more than to send the Red Sox a message. -Info Plays
Pick: Colorado Rockies -135
The Rockies are an outstanding 52-20 in their last 72 interleague home games, 26-7 in their last 33 interleague home games vs. a team with a losing record and 7-1 in their last 8 interleague games vs. a team with a losing record. The Rockies are also 15-5 in Hammel’s last 20 starts as a home favorite of -110 to -150. The White Sox are 12-26 in Floyd’s last 38 road starts and 4-10 in his last 14 starts as a road underdog of +110 to +150. Take the Rockies. -Dave Price
Pick: Cincinnati Reds +133
Tampa Bay ace David Price hasn’t been as sharp as we are used to seeing lately. He has an ERA of 4.26 and a WHIP of 1.316 over his last 3 starts. That’s likely not good news for the Rays as they go up against one of the best hitting teams in baseball against left-handed pitching. The Reds are batting .295 and scoring 6.2 runs per game against southpaw starters this season. Plus, Cincy is in excellent hands with Johnny Cueto, who has an ERA of 1.63 and a WHIP of 0.972 through 9 starts this season. He’s been nearly flawless lately, going 3-0 with an ERA of 0.43 and a WHIP of 0.810 over his last 3 starts. Lastly, the Reds are 7-0 in their last 7 meetings with the Rays and 4-0 in their last 4 meetings in Tampa Bay. Take the Reds. -Jeff Alexander (Handicapperspicks.com)
