Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tennessee Titans
Game Date/Time: Sunday, September 19th, 1:00 ET
Game Location: LP Field, Nashville, TN
TV/Radio Broadcast: CBS, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Pittsburgh Steelers (+5) -110 vs. Tennessee Titans (-5) -110: Over/Under 37

Have the oddsmakers not learned their lesson with the Steelers? The black and gold could still have one of the best teams in the NFL, and beating the football betting lines might not be that hard this week if the defense can come to play. The offense isn’t going to need to do much if Chris Johnson is shut down effectively.

Yes, we know that Johnson has had 12 straight 100+ yard games, but he hasn’t run up against many defenses this fierce in the process. Trying to watch Vince Young keep his head on straight if the running game breaks down could be fun.

These two teams have quite the history with one another, and the Steelers know what it takes to win at LP Field. Dennis Dixon just has to hang onto the football, make a few plays with his legs and a couple with his arm, and let Rashard Mendenhall do the rest. The wrong team in favored in this game, and the football betting result will show it when Pittsburgh gets out of the Music City with another ‘W’.

Miami Dolphins vs. Minnesota Vikings
Game Date/Time: Sunday, September 19th, 1:00 ET
Game Location: Mall of America Field, Minneapolis, MN
TV/Radio Broadcast: CBS, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Miami Dolphins (+5.5) -110 vs. Minnesota Vikings (-5.5) -110: Over/Under 39

The Dolphins have everything that it takes to come into a place like Minnesota and just cripple the hosts. There is a reason that this team is 6-1 ATS in its L/7 road games against the football betting lines. Miami has a dominant running game that just finds holes in defenses. Yes, Minnesota’s defensive front is one of the best in the NFL at stopping the run, but if Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams can get anything going, it could be a long, long day for the men in purple.

Brett Favre looks old and prone to mistakes right now, and if he doesn’t get on the same page with his cut and paste receiving corps, all of the pressure in the world will be on Adrian Peterson to take care of the football and beat the Miami defense. We’ll be sure to take our chances with the boys from the Sunshine State.

Take the Dolphins and Steelers in our Rabid Dawg Parlay to cash in with football betting parlay odds of roughly 8.5 to 1!

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears
Game Date/Time: Sunday, September 12th, 1:00 ET
Game Location: Soldier Field, Chicago, IL
TV/Radio Broadcast: Fox, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Detroit Lions (+6.5) -110 vs. Chicago Bears (-6.5) -110: Over/Under 44

The bottom line here is that the Lions really could win this game, and taking them up to 16.5 points right now is absurd. Detroit is clearly coming into this season with the better mojo on its side and surely won’t be able to get blown away by this many points. The boys from the Windy City are still trying to pick up the pieces from a miserable, winless preseason, and unless all of a sudden Jay Cutler picks up some magical pixy dust and becomes a quarterback that remembers how to hold onto the football, the Bears aren’t beating anyone by three scores.

Oakland Raiders vs. Tennessee Titans
Game Date/Time: Sunday, September 12th, 1:00 ET
Game Location: LP Field, Nashville, TN
TV/Radio Broadcast: CBS, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Oakland Raiders (+6) -110 vs. Cleveland Browns (-6) -110: Over/Under 40.5

We still aren’t so sure that the Titans have enough defense to be able to consistently beat any team by at least 17 points on a regular basis. Tennessee looks like one of these teams this year that will figure out how to win games and make you scratch your head how it does it. Chris Johnson won’t be able to run wild against a very stout Oakland front seven, and the end result could be a good game for the visitors. The silver and black won’t win it, but we have a tough time seeing them getting beaten by more than two scores, even playing halfway across the country.

San Diego Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Game Date/Time: Monday, September 13th, 7:30 ET
Game Location: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
TV/Radio Broadcast: Local TV, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: San Diego Chargers (-4.5) -110 vs. Kansas City Chiefs (+4.5) -110: Over/Under 45

Seeing a San Diego game with a ‘total’ of just 35 seems to be incredibly unfair, even if this is Kansas City we’re talking about on the other sideline. The Chargers will still have an explosive offense this year even without LaDainian Tomlinson in the fold and with Vincent Jackson having yet to show up to camp. The KC offense is flat out terrible, but Charlie Weis, the team’s new offensive coordinator might have a thing or two to change about that. The Bolts have done enough by themselves over the L/2 meetings to beat this ‘over’ at 35, and we expect much of the same on Monday night.

My NFL Prediction: 10-point super teaser – Detroit Lions +16.5 / Oakland Raiders +16 / San Diego Chargers-Kansas City Chiefs over 35

Tennessee Titans vs. Seattle Seahawks
Game Date/Time: Saturday, August 14th, 10:00 ET
Game Location: Qwest Field, Seattle, WA
TV/Radio Broadcast: Local TV, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Tennessee Titans (+4) -110 vs. Seattle Seahawks (-4) -110: Over/Under: 34

The top of the quarterback rotation looks exactly the same this year for the Tennessee Titans as it did last season. The difference is that Kerry Collins knows that he has been relegated to backup duty at best. Vince Young led the troops to an 8-2 record in the final ten games of the regular season for Tennessee last year.

The far more interesting battle will come for the third quarterback position. Chris Simms was once a starter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs, but he is just trying to find a job at this point of his career. Former Florida Atlantic star Rusty Smith wants to make this team as well; both should see plenty of reps.

Three young running backs will be ones to watch, as Javon Ringer, Alvin Peerman, and LeGarrette Blount will all tote the rock quite a bit in this one.

For the Seattle Seahawks, the Pete Carroll era is about to get underway. Make no bones about the fact that Carroll is badly looking for a running back to lead this team. Julius Jones, Leon Washington, Justin Forsett, and Quinton Ganther will all get their reps during the preseason if healthy, but none of the four are really starting running back material at this point. Making NFL preseason picks on the Seahawks could be difficult unless this is sorted out.

The quarterback battle could be quite the tense one. Though Seneca Wallace has departed, Matt Hasselbeck is still in Seattle, and he will be the starter until further notice. However, many think it is Charlie Whitehurst who will ultimately win this job. JP Losman was a success last year in the inaugural season of the UFL, and he is hoping that his solid statistics there can carry over and earn him a chance at becoming an NFL starter once again.

NFL Insider Tip : The Titans watched all five of their preseason games go past the ‘total’ last preseason.

We tend to think that much of the same will be in store on Saturday night. Both teams have a ton of quarterbacks at their disposal that have had a history of starting games, and that should lead to enough points to get this one past the number at hand. Bank on the ‘over’ for your NFL preseason picks.

NFL Betting: 2010 Odds To Win The AFC South

The pro football odds are available for NFL futures right now at BetUS Sportsbook for the AFC South! Today, we take a look at those odds and determine how the four teams in one of the most competitive divisions in the league will finish up in 2010.

Indianapolis Colts (-150 odds) – The Colts are the bona fide favorites once again in the AFC South, and for good reason. QB Peyton Manning is still probably good for 4,000 yards and at least 25 touchdown passes, and when this offense is clicking, no one can stop it. There are still plenty of defensive question marks, but these are all the same question marks that the Colts have had for years. Indy still has a solid squad, but at Manning’s age, some rust is going to show at some point. Still, this is a division that is there for the taking.
My NFL Predictions: 11-5, 1st place in AFC South

Houston Texans (+350 odds) – Is this finally the year the Texans make the playoffs? HC Gary Kubiak had better hope so, or he is likely to be handed a pink slip. Red zone offense is going to be key for Houston, as it statistically ranked dead last in the league in that category last season. Several games were lost inside the opponents’ five yard line. If RB Ben Tate can punch some of those close calls into the end zone, the Texans will be playoff bound, as they already have the top passing offense in the league under QB Matt Schaub.
My NFL Predictions: 10-6, 2nd place in AFC South

Tennessee Titans (+350 odds) – The Titans finished up with eight wins in their L/10 games last season after starting off at a woeful 0-6. This year, QB Vince Young is going to be under center every step of the way, which could make all the difference in the world. The key is going to be keeping defenses guessing about how RB Chris Johnson is going to get the football. Another 2,000+ yard season is unlikely, but asking for 1,500 yards and at least a dozen scores isn’t out of the question. Tennessee will challenge for a playoff spot yet again.
My NFL Predictions: 9-7, 3rd place in AFC South

Jacksonville Jaguars (+1000 odds) – In almost any other division in football, the Jags would be considered a potential sleeper team. They have plenty of talent to work with, particularly on defense, but the pieces to the puzzle just haven’t come together in recent years in Jacksonville. HC Jack Del Rio has to be running out of time, but the man that really needs to prove himself is QB David Garrard. Another year right around the same number of TD passes as INTs is going to see Del Rio get fired and Garrard limited to backup duty… most likely on another team in 2011.
My NFL Predictions: 5-11, 4th place in AFC South
