Pick: Atlanta Braves -140
The reigning MLB champs are struggling. They have lost 12 of their last 17 and haven’t had an answer for Atlanta all year. The Braves, winners of 8 of their last 11, are a perfect 4-0 against the Giants this year and have won 6 straight regular-season games in the series dating back to last season. It’s unlikely the struggling Jonathan Sanchez will bring this skid to an end. The southpaw is 0-4 with a 6.14 ERA in his last six starts and 1-3 with a 5.63 ERA in eight games (six starts) versus the Braves. A Giants’ club only batting .239 on the road will have a tough time breaking out of its offensive funk against Randall Delgado, a pitcher they have never faced. We’ll back the Braves in this one. -Jimmy Boyd

Pick: Detroit Tigers -1.5 -122
Detroit is 20-2 all-time at home with Verlander on the mound against clubs winning just 38% to 46% of their games. The Tigers have won these contests by an average score of 7.2 to 3.7. Minnesota is 3-19 all-time on the road with Blackburn on the bump against a team with a winning record. The Twins have lost these games by an average score of 6.8 to 3.8. We’ll take the Tigers on the run line. -Dave Price

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -104
The Red Sox and Yankees get all the hype in the AL East, but Toronto has a good team, competitive on the road and an offense that is 6th in baseball in runs and slugging. The Blue Jays are 17-8 in their last 25 vs. a team with a losing record. Toronto goes with lefty starter and the Mariners are 9-24 in their last 33 overall and 15-42 in their last 57 games vs. a left-handed starter. Seattle righty Jason Vargas is hittable and the Blue Jays have pounded him this season for a 5.59 ERA, as well as 4.96 ERA in his career, allowing 24 base runners in 16 innings. And the Mariners are 2-10 in Vargas’ last 12 starts vs. the American League East. Play the Blue Jays! -Jim Fiest (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Boston Red Sox -1.5 -140
We’ll side with the Boston Red Sox Thursday on the Run Line as they send Ace Josh Beckett to the bump. The Red Sox are 19-4 in their last 23 games overall, winning 16 times by two runs or more. Kansas City send Luke Hochevar to the mound, who is 6-8 with a 5.29 ERA and 1.366 WHIP in 21 starts this season. Beckett is 9-3 with a 2.07 ERA and 0.905 WHIP in 19 starts, and 4-0 with a 1.61 ERA and 0.933 WHIP in eight home outings. He is the frontrunner to win the AL Cy Young award with what he has done this season. Kansas City is 1-9 against the run line (-11.3 Units) after allowing 12 runs or more over the last 2 seasons, losing by 5.3 runs/game in this spot. The Red Sox are 20-11 against the run line (+12.4 Units) in day games this season. Beckett is 10-1 against the run line (+9.0 Units) when playing against a bad team (Win Pct. 38% to 46%) in the second half of the season over the last 3 seasons. Take the Red Sox on the Run Line. -Black Widow

Pick: Oakland Athletics -122
Tampa Bay seems to have lost their motivation to come to ballpark. A lot of that probably has to do with the fact that they are coming to terms with the fact that they aren’t going to make the playoffs. Not only are they not hitting the ball, but they aren’t pitching worth a crap either. While the A’s are also pretty much out of the playoff race, they are still playing hard and doing whatever it takes to bring home a win. Oakland is 7-3 in their last 10 games, and I think this team will be excited for the chance to sweep the Rays today. The A’s will start Rich Harden, who is coming off back-to-back strong starts. He allowed just 3 runs over 7 innings in a 4-3 win (no decision) over the Angels on July, 16 and held the Yankees to just 2 runs in his last start. Tampa Bay is just 2-16 in their last 18 games after losing the first 3 games of a series, while the A’s are 6-2 in their last 8 during game 4 of a series. -Steve Janus

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -155
Toronto has won 20 of its last 23 home games against Baltimore and will have an excellent chance to build on this run with Baltimore’s Bergesen stepping to the hill. That’s because the Orioles have lost 11 of his last 13 starts. Plus, the Blue Jays are 4-0 in Villanueva’s last 4 starts versus a team with a losing record. Take the Jays. -Dave Price

Pick: Texas Rangers -152
After back-to-back losses to the Twins, expect the Rangers to come storming back to earn a split in the series. One thing you don’t want to do is make a habit out of fading the Rangers at home off 2 or more losses. That’s because they are 17-2 the last 2 seasons in home games after 2 or more consecutive losses, winning by an average of 3.3 runs/game in this situation. Baker hasn’t been quite as good on the road this year and the Rangers have won each of Harrison’s last 4 starts. We’ll take Texas on the money line. -Jeff Alexander (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays +135
5* graded play on the Toronto Blue Jays as they take on the New York Yankees set to start at 7:07 PM ET. My proprietary simulator and statistical database shows a high probability that Toronto will win this game. Supporting this graded play is a system that has produced a 29-12 mark making 25.4 units per one unit wagered since 1997. Play on home teams that are struggling hitting teams batting= 2.000 over his last three starts and now facing an excellent AL starting pitcher sporting an ERA

Pick: Royals vs. Twins Over 8
Whenever these two teams meet up, there is a good chance that they will go over the total. Over the last three seasons the OVER is 29-14 between these two clubs, and 15-4 in the L19 games played in Minnesota. The oddsmakers have once again set this total to low. For starters Minnesota will send Francisco Liriano to the mound, who continues to be overvalued after throwing a no-hitter earlier this year. Liriano is just 5-7 with a 5.06 ERA in 15 starts, and only 2-3 with a 6.99 ERA and 1.420 WHIP at home. The Royals will start Bruce Chen. He brings in a solid 5-2 record with a 3.26 ERA, but is just 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA in four career starts against the Twins. The OVER is 6-0-1 in Royals last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The OVER is 8-2 in Twins last 10 games as a home favorite of -110 to -150, and 12-3-2 in Twins last 17 during game 1 of a series. -Steve Janus (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Los Angeles Angels +102
The Los Angeles Angels will be looking to take three of four Thursday afternoon against the visiting Oakland Athletics. The Angels got a solid start Wednesday from starter Ervin Santana, who allowed one run in six strong innings, and will be looking for a similar performance from Joel Pineiro, who will start Thursday against Oakland’s Brett Anderson. The Angels are 10-2 in Pineiro’s last 12 home starts. Oakland LH Brett Anderson (2-4, 3.18) vs. Los Angeles RH Joel Pineiro (2-0 2.67). Oakland will send Anderson to the mound seeking his first win since April 24. Anderson started against the Angels on May 16, allowing three runs and five hits in 6 2/3 innings. Torii Hunter has hit well in his career off Anderson, batting 5-for-11 with one home run and six RBIs against the Oakland lefty. TAKE THE ANGELS HERE -Bob Wingerter

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -145
The White Sox haven’t fared well against the Blue Jays, especially north of the border. Chicago is 7-21 in the last 28 meetings in this series and 3-14 in the last 17 meetings in Toronto. Expect the Jays to continue their dominance over the Sox with Morrow on the mound tonight. Toronto is 4-1 in his last 5 starts and 12-3 in his last 15 home starts. The Jays have been terrific in series openers, winning 19 of their last 26. It is also worth noting that they are 5-1 in Morrow’s last 6 series-opening starts. The White Sox, meanwhile, have been miserable in series openers, losing 10 of their last 14. We’ll take Toronto this evening. -Jimmy Boyd

Pick: New York Mets +136
The Mets have a better road record and the Cubbies have at home! The Mets are 9-4 in their last 13 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and Carlos Zambrano has been a bit wild this season, with a 4.88 ERA. His last three starts he has a 6.50 ERA. The Cubs are 10-25 in their last 35 home games vs. a right-handed starter and playing terrible defense. Pitching outdoors is a plus for NY knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, so play the NY Mets. -Jim Feist (Handicapperspicks.com)

MLB Picks for April 27th 2011: Consider Betting The San Francisco Giants On Wednesday

Pick: San Francisco Giants -125
On Wednesday the Free MLB System Play is on the SF. Giants. Game 963 at 7:05 eastern. The Giants fit a nice, yet complicated system that has won 14 of the last 18 times and plays out like this. Play on road favorites off a 1 run road favorite win with a total that was 8 or less, if they scored 4 or less runs and made no more than 1 error, vs an opponent off a 1 run home dog loss that scored 2 or less runs and had 5 or more hits with 5 or more men left on base. The Giants are 4-1 on the road when the total is 8 to 8.5. The Pirates are 0-3 as a home dog from +100 to +125. Both pitchers in this one have been hit hard of late. However SF Bumgarner is better than the Pirates McDonald. Look for the Giants to take another from the Pirates. On Wednesday I have a 96% NBA Playoff system Game of the Week and a cutting edge 92% MLB Power Play system with a solid pitching edge. Tuesday NBA and NHL Cash while Bases gets postponed. Jump on tonight and cash big. For the Free Play take the San Francisco Giants. -Rob Vinciletti. Pick: Blue Jays vs. Rangers Over 9.5
I fully expect the Blue Jays and Rangers to continue scoring runs in bunches in this series Wednesday. Texas and Toronto combined for 10 runs in Game 1 and 13 runs in Game 2, and I expect another double-digit output in Game 3. Jo-Jo Reyes goes for the Blue Jays and he’s one of the worst starters in the league. Reyes is 0-2 with a 6.20 ERA and 1.771 WHIP in four starts this season. Derek Holland has been decent for Texas, sporting a 4.39 ERA in four starts and a 5.54 ERA in two home starts. Holland has struggled against Toronto, going 1-1 with a 11.25 ERA and 1.875 WHIP in two career starts against them. Toronto is scoring 5.7 RPG against left-handed starters, while Texas is putting up 6.5 RPG versus South Paws. The OVER is 8-2 in Holland’s last 10 home starts with the total set at 9.0-10.5. Take the OVER Wednesday. -Jack Jones (Handicapperspicks.com)
