Pick: Toronto Raptors +4.5
The Toronto Raptors are showing solid value tonight as a home underdog against the Memphis Grizzlies. I know Toronto is struggling, but they are coming off a brutal 5-game road trip with games against four of the top teams in the league in the Hornets, Spurs, Magic and Heat. I look for them to put an end to their recent skid when they return home Monday to face a Memphis team that is struggling on the road this season. The Grizzlies are 8-16 on the road this year and should not be favored tonight. This play falls into a system that is 47-17 (73%) ATS since 1996. It tells us to bet on underdogs (TORONTO) – terrible defensive team – shooting pct defense of >=48% on the season against opponent hot shooting team – 2 straight games making >=50% of their shots. The Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a road favorite of 0.5-4.5. The Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog of 0.5-4.5. Memphis is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a double-digit win. The home team has won 8 of the last 10 meetings. -Jack Jones

Pick: Old Dominion -13.5
At first glance, this pointspread seems fairly high. After all, the Seahawks are off a 6-point win while the Monarchs are off a 9-point loss. However, those Saturday results have actually helped to keep the line a little lower than it could have been. I believe the Monarchs are the superior team and I expect them to demonstrate it here. Saturday was just the Monarch’s second home loss of the season. They’re now 14-5 overall. Despite coming up short vs VCU, the Monarchs held a rebounding advantage once again. ODU has now outrebounded 18 of its 19 opponents. The Monarchs should enjoy a solid edge in that department again here and that should help in pulling away. While many teams struggle when coming off a loss, the Monarchs typically aren’t one of them. In fact, they’re a profitable 10-2 ATS (11-1 SU) the last dozen times that they were coming off a conference loss. The Monarchs are 12-8-2 ATS (22-0 SU) the last 22 times that there were listed as home favorites in the -12.5 to -15 range. They’re also 3-0 SU/ATS against the Seahawks since 2009. They won those games by 18, 19 and 30 points. Given their past success at “bouncing back” from a loss, they’ve got a great shot at another convincing victory. Consider laying the points. -Ben Burns

Pick: Boston Bruins +100
Love the Bruins tonight, as in my opinion they are one of the best road teams in the league, and have really hit their stride. Winners of 6 of 8 and scoring a ton of goals. ( The 6th best offense in the NHL averaging 3.1 GPG) Boston has kept plugging along this season and is full marks for their position in the Eastern Conference standings. The Bruins are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games and are coming off an impressive 6-2 win over the Avs on Saturday. Something LA cannot do. The Kings can’t win games consistently OR score for that matter of late. 3 wins in 13 games since mid-December. The Bruins are better between the pipes as well as Rask holds an edge over the “overrated” Johnathon Quick. (I loved him a couple weeks ago, but he’s not impressing me of late.) Last meeting between these 2 clubs in Boston 2 months ago saw the Kings win 4-3 in OT. I see the Bruins outplaying the Kings tonight in a payback game. I’m the #3 NHL Capper for a reason folks. I find winners. Got another one tonight for you. (5* Free Play). Take the Bruins +100 vs. LA. -Ray Monohan (Handicapperspicks.com)

Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves +7
On Wednesday the Free NBA System Play is on the Minnesota Timber wolves. Game 723 at 10:35 eastern. The Wolves fit a tight system that plays on road dogs with 1 day of rest that scored 100 or more points as a road dog of 5 or more, vs an opponent that scored 100 or more as a home favorite of 4 or less and shot 45% or better from the field if the posted total is 190 or higher. This is the third game between the two with Minnesota taking the first one at home and the Clippers winning big here the last time these two hooked up. Look for a much closer game tonight as B.Griffin goes up against K.Love once again tonight. Take the Wolves plus the points. On Wednesday the lead play is the NBA Non Conference Total of the Month that’s backed with a 94% Totals system. I also have the NCAAB A-10 Conference double perfect Goy. Tuesday lone play cashed as the run is 7-0 the past 3 days. For the free Play take the Minnesota Timberwolves. -Rob Vinciletti

Pick: Raptors vs. Spurs Under 205.5
The Spurs have gotten back to their defensive ways and they have held six straight opponents under the century mark. Four of those opponents were held to 91 or fewer points and we think they can do a nice job against this Toronto team that has struggled to score points lately. The Raptors have averaged only 91 PPG in their last three contests and this team has really been struggling with injuries lately and that has been a major reason that they have lacked offensive cohesiveness. They have the same problem tonight as they have a long injury list and they should be shorthanded tonight We just think this total was posted a few points too high and if the Spurs go up big in this one they could slow the game down in the fourth quarter to protect the lead. -Doc’s Sports

Pick: Xavier -4.5
The Musketeers are on fire and I do not see St. Bonny even hanging tight here, even at home. When the Musketeers lose it is to good teams and they are simply blowing out weak oppoenents and I see no way that St Bonny can trade punches on offense in this one boys, a short and sweet writeup, but Xavier is going to shoot them out of the gym tonight, a short number for a better team who is explosive against a team who has recently struggled to score points. This line has jumped a full point for a reason, lay it. -Tony George

Pick: Iowa +20
Love playing against newly #1 ranked teams as they usually have big letdown. Last year this angle won ATS in 5 of 6 times we did it. Iowa also has covered last three game against OSU. Iowa actually matches up well with OSU and think they keep this around 10 pts comfortably in a safe cover. OSU wins but no way they cover 20. -Craig Trapp (Handicapperspicks.com)

Prediction: Raptors vs. Pistons Under 201
Detroit knows it can’t run with Toronto and expect to win. Slowing the game down gives Detroit its best chance for a victory and it has been very successful in controlling the tempo against uptempo squads. In fact, Detroit is 25-11 UNDER versus up-tempo teams averaging 83 or more shots/game over the last 2 seasons. We have only seeing a total of 194.9 points scored on average in these games. With both teams having just played last night, expect a slower paced game to result in the Under here. -Dave Price

Prediction: Utah Jazz +5.5
Motivated by last week’s loss to Dallas, expect Utah to cover this number as it takes the Mavs right down to the wire tonight. The Jazz are an awesome 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog. The Mavericks are a disappointing 14-35-3 ATS in their last 52 home games and just 9-23-2 ATS in their last 34 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5 points. Take the points. -Jeff Alexander

Prediction: Cavaliers vs. Rockets Over 205
Two of the worst defensive teams in the NBA square off Saturday: The small Cavs allow .477% shooting by opponents (4th worst in the NBA) while the uptempo Rockets allow .466% shooting, 20th in the league. Both teams allow over 100 points per game, with the Rockets giving up 105.7 ppg, sixth most in the league. Cleveland has spent much of the last two weeks on the road and they have packed it in defensively, on a 5-1 run over the total. Houston won’t have any legs for defense playing the second of a back to back spot here, giving up 111 and 119 points in their last back to back games to Memphis and Chicago (both overs). Play the Cavaliers/Rockets over the total. -Jim Feist (Handicapperspicks.com)

Basketball Picks & Predictions for March 10th 2010

Toronto Raptors vs. Sacramento Kings
Free Pick: Sacramento Kings +1.5 (March 10th 2010 – Jimmy Boyd)
The Raptors have struggled on the road all season, winning just 10 of 30 games, and I expect those struggles to continue tonight. It will be extremely difficult for Toronto to get up for this one after getting its heart ripped out by Kobe Bryant and the Lakers last night. When the Raptors have been tired, they have been pure fade material. In fact, Toronto is 3-11 ATS when playing on back-to-back days this season, losing in these spots by an average score of 100.4 to 109.6. Toronto is also just 4-14 ATS when playing its 3rd game in 4 days this season, losing in these spots by an average score of 104.3 to 110.9. The home team is 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings and the Kings enter having covered the spread in 6 of their last 7. We’ll side with Sacramento.

Rice vs. Tulsa
Free Pick: Tulsa -14 (March 10th 2010 – Tom Freese)
Rice is 8-22 overall and 1-15 in League Play. Guard Tamir Jackson scores 10.7 points a game. Forward Arsalan Kazemi scores 10.4 points and 9 rebounds a game. Guard Connor Frizzelle scores 9.2 points a game. Center Trey Stanton scores 9 points a game. The Owls score 64 points a game. Rice is 2-5 ATS their last 7 Wednesday games and they are 1-5 ATS their last 6 mettings with the Hurricanes. Tulsa is 21-10 overall and 10-6 in League Play. Guard Ben Uzuh scores 15.4 points a game. Center Jerome Jordan scores 15.1 points and 8.7 rebounds a game. Guard Justin Hurtt scores 13.9 points a game while shooting 38.5% from behind the arc. The Golden Hurricanes score 71.4 points a game. Tulsa is 13-5 ATS their last 18 games vs. a team with win percentage of under 40%! PLAY ON TULSA -
